When you’re choosing products to treat hair loss and optimize the appearance of your hair, it’s important to choose even your styling products and shampoos carefully. Revivogen Thickening Conditioner is a product that was designed for the special concerns of those with hair loss or thinning. It contains no active ingredients that treat hair loss problems, though it can be used with hair loss treatment products. It’s supposed to add volume and shine, while replenishing and strengthening your hair. But we find that this product falls short of these promises!
Product ingredients
Deionized Water (Aqua), Cetrimonium Bromide, Dicetyldimonium Chloride, Cetrimonium Chloride, Cetyl Alcohol, Allantoin, Biotin, Aloe Vera (Barbados Aloe), Wheat Protein, Soy Protein, Hydrolyzed Hair Keratin, Panthenol (ProVitamin B5), Silk Protein, Dimethicone Copolyol, Jojoba Oil (Simmonodsia Chinesis), Almond Oil (Canarium Indicum), Dimethiconol, Rosemary (Rosmarinus Officinalis), Sage Extract (Artemisia SP), Chamomile Extract (Anthemis), Comfry Extract (Symphytum Uplandicum), Benzophenone-4, Methanol, Pepermint Oil, Thyme Extract (Thymus Vulgaris), Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Citric Acid.
We see some impressive ingredients in there, but that’s not enough to win us over. The proteins made from wheat, silk, and soy are supposed to protect your hair without weighing it down, but we’re pretty skeptical about that.
Use of product
Revivogen Thickening Conditioner is applied throughout wet hair after the shampoo, and then rinsed out immediately, or for extra conditioning, can be left in from 2-5 minutes. The manufacturers suggest that you use it after cleansing with Revivogen Bio-Cleansing Shampoo. So you need to buy another product to make it work? No thanks!
Cost of product
Revivogen Thickening Conditioner costs $21.95 for a 12 oz bottle. In our opinion, that’s pretty pricey for a hair care product. At that price, it had better work miracles—and too bad it doesn’t!
Side effects
No side effects are listed, although there are always potential allergic reactions associated with products such as Revivogen Thickening Conditioner that have natural extracts listed as ingredients.(Yes, they’re natural, but not always safe!)
User reviews
What users dislike the most about Revivogen Thickening Conditioner is the strong scent that’s the result of natural extracts, like chamomile, sage, peppermint, and menthol. The manufacturers call it “invigorating,” but we disagree! We prefer the scent of coffee to wake us up in the morning, not that combination of scents. (Coffee-scented hair care products, now there’s an idea!) Other users mention that any improvement in the appearance in their hair falls flat after just a few hours—what good is that? Others find that the conditioner leaves their hair greasy and limp. And some users see no difference at all in the appearance of their hair after using Revivogen Thickening Conditioner. So you’re basically throwing your money down the drain.
Conclusion
There are so many products on the market designed for those with hair loss or thinning hair. Don’t you owe it to yourself to buy products that actually do something? Then stay away from Revivogen Thickening Conditioner!
