Retane is a botanical hair loss product for men and women. As do many other hair loss products, it promises to put an end to your hair loss, promote new hair growth, and improve the health of your hair and scalp. The manufacturer indicates that in a study of their product 86% of participants reported a “significant decrease” in hair shedding after a four week period. However, according to even the maker’s information, different users may see different results. They indicate while the product should begin to reverse hair loss for most users, only those who start using this treatment when hair loss begins will see new hair growth. Additionally, for maximum benefit, the maker suggests to use their optimal dose which calls for applying the product three times a day.
The maker’s caveats and different programs may make you wonder if this product is appropriately named. Does it really help you “retain” your hair?
Retane Ingredients
Retane contains several vitamins and other key nutrients including:
- Inositol. A B vitamin that is believed to be important in preventing hair fallout.
- Biotin. A nutrient often found in hair and nail products. It is believed to be important in preventing hair loss and graying.
- Protodioscin. Derived from an herb, this ingredient is thought to help prevent hair loss due to overproduction of DHT.
- Folic Acid. A B vitamin important for healthy skin and hair.
- Ginseng Panax. An herb that among other things helps cells assimilates minerals and vitamins.
Retane Usage
Holding Retane about three inches from your head, spray it directly onto your scalp. It is recommend that the product be applied liberally which according to the manufacturer is about two teaspoons or 50-60 squirts of product. Liberally? After that application, you’ll think you’ve just washed your hair!
Once applied to your scalp, the product should be massaged in and then let your hair air dry.
Retane has three usage programs that indicate when during the day and how many times during the day a user should apply the product. The maker indicates users should select the appropriate program for their situation:
- Normal Program: For individuals with light hair loss or lightly thinning hair, Retane is used at least once daily preferably at bedtime.
- Accelerated Program: For individuals with a moderate amount of hair loss, Retane should be applied twice a day, in the morning and evening.
- Optimal Program: For individuals with severe hair loss and thinning, Retane is applied three times a day with at least one application at bedtime.
Cost
Depending on the severity of your hair loss and which “program” you choose to follow, a monthly supply of Retane ranges from half to 1 bottle. The cost for each bottle is $34.99.
Conclusion
Retane ranks highly on the scale of messy products that are annoying to use. If you use their optimal program, you had better either enjoy having the wet head look or avoid going into public for awhile. Applying this product liberally to your head three times a day becomes a trying process quite quickly. And unless, your hair loss has just begun, this one even admits that it can’t help with the hair regrowth process. Therefore, Retane is just one product that you won’t want to “retain” for treating your hair loss!
