Preventing Hair Loss

 Some hair loss is normal for both men and women, but we’re talking about baldness. Bald means excessive hair loss. Believe it or not, in certain cultures and at various points in history, baldness was actually viewed as a sign of virility in men. Today, things are different. And watching your hair fall out and wash down the drain all of a sudden is traumatic for both sexes.

There are lots of products out there that claim to reverse hair loss – and some of them actually work pretty well. But it’s worth a look at how you might be able to prevent baldness in the first place.

What causes baldness?

A variety of factors, actually, including genetics (e.g., baldness in the family), stress, certain health issues, some medications, poor nutrition, hormonal deficiencies, and even the excessive use of hair coloring. A genetic predisposition to balding is by far the most influential factor and, to this point, little can be done to lessen one’s chances of continuing a family tradition of baldness.
