Dermenodex
Sunday, August 31st, 2008Retane
Friday, August 29th, 2008
Retane is a botanical hair loss product for men and women. As do many other hair loss products, it promises to put an end to your hair loss, promote new hair growth, and improve the health of your hair and scalp. The manufacturer indicates that in a study of their product 86% of participants reported a “significant decrease” in hair shedding after a four week period. However, according to even the maker’s information, different users may see different results. They indicate while the product should begin to reverse hair loss for most users, only those who start using this treatment when hair loss begins will see new hair growth. Additionally, for maximum benefit, the maker suggests to use their optimal dose which calls for applying the product three times a day.
Dermenodex Value Pack
Thursday, August 28th, 2008
Dermenodex Value Pack’s marketing is aimed at men who want to combat their thinning hair using every possible angle. They want their hair to stay put and every product that touches even a single strand is going to have hair rejuvenating power. And they’re not afraid to spend a lot (even for a Value Pack) to try to get their hair back.
Womens Rogaine
Wednesday, August 27th, 2008
One hair loss product on the market that gets a lot of attention is Rogaine. Few hair loss suffers haven’t heard of it or its main ingredient, minoxidil. This product was once reserved for use in men. Today, there is a women’s version of this over the counter product that has been approved by the FDA for treating hair loss. For all the hype that this product gets, the results that it delivers for users are less than stellar. For example, in a clinical trial for women 18-45, only 19% of women reported moderate hair growth after 8 months. Along with the results and the noted caution that it may not work for some users are the list of potential side effects. After reviewing information on this product, a potential user may wonder if it is truly an option after all.
Procerin
Wednesday, August 27th, 2008
I know I’ve consistently reviewed most “natural” hair products two-thumbs-down, but this one has me doing back-flips! Procerin is a system for treating hair loss that combines a topical serum and a nutritional supplement. When you use these two products together, you’re treating hair loss from the inside and from the outside. Procerin has been developed to treat the specific needs of men suffering from hair loss. Plus, it’s safer than some prescription products that react with testosterone and can cause unpleasant side effects!
Fabao 101D
Tuesday, August 26th, 2008
Fabao sells a line of hair growth products developed by Dr. Zhangguang Zhao. As the winner of seven international awards and honorable mention in The New York Times and Newsweek, I decided this product line deserved further research. I will start the reviews with Fabao 101D, which is recommended for early stage hair loss.
Avodart Review
Monday, August 25th, 2008
Avodart is a pretty serious name for a hair-loss treatment. That’s because Avodart is a prescription drug that was originally engineered as a treatment for prostate enlargement. Tests have shown that it could also be a major contender in the world of hair-loss prevention. No idea how on earth these guys made the leap from prostate to baldness, but we’ll run with it.

Sunday, August 24th, 2008
With over 75 years of experience helping those who suffer with hair loss, Thomas Laboratories offers a Daily Hair Therapy System designed to restore hair to men and women alike. Spectral DNC
Saturday, August 23rd, 2008
Spectral DNC is a topical treatment for hair loss. This means it is applied directly to the thinning area, as opposed to being taken in pill form. It is designed specifically for male pattern hair loss, such as androgenic alopecia. It’s been very successful clinically, more so than even Rogaine, the most famous hair loss treatment.
Super Million Hair
Friday, August 22nd, 2008
Just so you know right off the bat: Super Million Hair does not claim to regrow any of your lost hair. Instead of expecting Super Million Hair to work that miracle, think of it this way: Super Million Hair is like a step up from spray on hair, and a lot better than a toupee. It works instantly to make your hair appear to be thicker and healthier.
Super Million Hair Spray Mist
Thursday, August 21st, 2008
If you’re reading this, you’ve probably heard of Super Million Hair. If not, though, here’s a quick run down: Super Million Hair is a product made to cover up thinning hair. It is made of natural fibers—essentially, it’s tiny bits of fake hair. When you sprinkle it on your head, the fibers attach themselves to your own hair and give the appearance of a full head of hair.
Toppik
Wednesday, August 20th, 2008
Toppik is a product used for covering areas of thinning hair. Billed as a 30 second hair transplant, it fills in thinning areas with its hair building fibers. The product comes in 8 colors (auburn, black, light brown, dark brown, medium brown, blond, gray, white), and colors can be mixed so that the best match to your natural color can be achieved. For instance, someone with salt and pepper colored hair, could apply the white first and then mix in the black. However, it takes some time and practice to get the right method and look down if you are mixing colors. Additionally, it is still possible that not every person can find the appropriate color or mix of colors to make this product work a workable solution to their problem. Basically, you’ll need to be a fairly accomplished paint artist to make it look natural on you.
Top Coverage
Tuesday, August 19th, 2008
There are a lot of hair loss treatments designed to help stop hair loss or re-grow hair over time. Some of these treatments can take months or even a year before a user sees noticeable improvement. So what are you to do if you need immediate results? You might turn to a spray on product that will help diminish the appearance of hair loss. One such product on the market is called Top Coverage. It is touted as a hair loss concealer that makes bald spots disappear. While its marketing makes this product sound like it might be worth a try. A review of the ingredients and potential drawbacks to this product, this one makes you question whether it is worth your money.

Shen Min Advanced Formula
Sunday, August 17th, 2008
If you want to get a good idea of the appeal of the hair nutrient Shen Min, the first thing you need is a translation of the name. In Chinese, “Shen Min” means “life/vitality.” Does that give you any hints? Shen Min is all natural, first of all. 100%. So you can still show your face (and hair!) at the farmer’s market or the organic grocery store. It’s made from He Shou Wu, the eastern wild rose. The goal is to make your hair grow thicker over time, and to bring some of your original color back into that gray you hate so much.
Aromatase-7
Saturday, August 16th, 2008
Men everywhere can safely take their hats off after using the product. But seriously, I am really excited about this product. Why? It contains 5% Minoxidil solution—the only ingredient approved by the FDA for hair loss treatment. Recent studies show that the 5% solution produces better results than products with 2% Minoxidil.
proTHIK
Saturday, August 16th, 2008DermMatch
Friday, August 15th, 2008
Just as the name implies, DermMatch is a concealing product. According to the product website, doctors began using DermMatch to conceal scars caused by hair loss surgery. They noticed hair also looked thicker and fuller. You know how I cringe whenever any product has testimonials and before/after photos. Okay, this site does have both; however, I am encouraged by the recommendations from different groups. The American Hair Loss Association logo appears with their recommendation. Below that, is the logo and recommendation for the International Alliance of Hair Restoration Surgeons. These premiere organizations do not put their brand name on every site out there. Two prominent magazines, People and Good Housekeeping, also featured this product.
Thymuskin Lotion
Friday, August 15th, 2008
Thymuskin Lotion, also known as “the Hair Treatment” (self-proclaimed), was developed by 9 German physicians who desired to find a product that would stop hair loss associated with chemotherapy. Successful in their quest, this lotion is designed to stop hair loss and encourage the growth of new hair. Like other similar systems, it is recommended that this lotion be used after washing hair with Thymuskin Shampoo as it prepares the hair for the lotion.
Retin-A
Thursday, August 14th, 2008
I’m not a big fan of meddling with hair loss products that were designed for another disorder. But hey, if it wasn’t for accidents, Minoxidil and Propecia wouldn’t of been discovered. So when I was asked to do a review of Retin-A I proceeded with cautious-optimism.

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008
Progaine Volumizing Shampoo sounds like a knock-off of Rogaine, but it’s actually one product in the Rogaine hair regrowth line. The scientists at Rogaine have developed this line after years of research on treatment for hair loss – wouldn’t you love to see this research in action? Bald guys all in a line hoping they don’t get the placebo!
Organin
Monday, August 11th, 2008
I tried Organin in hopes of finding a product for quick concealing of bald spots and thinning patches on my head. The product is sold in the form of a powder that’s used in conjunction with a hair spray. It’s applied to the existing hair surrounding the bald spot or thin patch you want to conceal. Organin is made primarily of natural rayon fibers, and is available in eight shades, which you may blend to create a shade that matches your natural hair color – Note: I had a heck of a time matching my hair color! Because Organin washes out with each shampoo, it’s only a temporary solution for hair loss problems. However, many use Organin in conjunction with hair transplant, or with a topical hair regrowth solution such as Minoxidil.

Monday, August 11th, 2008
